The short drive is not the hard part
Moving house inside Dewsbury rarely fails because of distance. Thornhill, Savile Town, Ravensthorpe and the centre are close to each other. The day fails when a sofa meets a tight landing, or when the only gap for the van is across a bus stop. House removals is the service. This is the access briefing we wish every enquiry included.
Terraces and the turn on the stair
Savile Town, Thornhill Lees, Ravensthorpe and Westtown are full of terraces with a steep stair and a turn onto the landing. Wardrobes and corner sofas that were carried in years ago do not always come out the same way. If a wall has been altered, say so. If you have already measured a doorway, send the number. If you have not, a photo of the tightest corner is enough.
Beds and freestanding wardrobes can be taken apart. Fitted furniture that is part of the house stays unless we have agreed otherwise. Empty drawers before we arrive. Bag the screws and tape them to the frame.
Hills, cul-de-sacs and the town centre
Earlsheaton and parts of Chickenley slope. A van parked facing the wrong way on a hill is a nuisance to you and to the street. Tell us about the gradient. Cul-de-sacs in Chickenley and Shaw Cross are fine when the turning head is clear and awkward when it is used as a car park.
The town centre is a different problem. Flats over shops, pedestrian-heavy streets, and Dewsbury bus station on Aldams Road while the building is rebuilt. Market times change the kerb. If an agent has booked a lift or demanded mats in the hallway, send that email with the quote. Flat removals is the page when the building, not the house stair, is the issue.
Ravensthorpe has an extra local fact: the railway station is closed until 2028. Road access is what we plan. Do not assume a station car park is available as a loading point.
What to do the week before
Walk the route the crew will walk, from the likely kerb to the furthest room. Note steps outside, a narrow alley, or a gate that does not open fully. Ask neighbours if a space can be left, without promising them a suspension we cannot grant. Kirklees is the council for permits and bins. If you need a formal suspension, start that conversation early and tell us what they say.
School-run times fill Earlsheaton, Shaw Cross and many terrace streets. A mid-morning start is often kinder than 8am. If your completion is tied to a solicitor, we would rather know the keys might be late.
Defrost the fridge the day before. Keep the new keys, fobs and any parking permit in your pocket. Packing can clear the kitchen so the morning is only carrying.
Tell us in the quote
Both addresses, the floors, where you think we can stop, and anything you already know will not fit in a lift or around a banister. Call 01924729860 or get a free quote. Insurance is provided with your move. Ask us what is covered when you book.
Dewsbury Moor and Whitley are quieter than the centre, and they still deserve a photo of the lane. Access is local knowledge plus the picture you send, not a guess from the postcode alone.
