Terrace and street moves in Ravensthorpe

Ravensthorpe lies just west of Dewsbury town, with terraces, flats and shared houses close to the railway. The station itself is shut for a rebuild, so access is by road.

Terraces west of the centre

Ravensthorpe is a short hop from Dewsbury town centre, but the streets feel different: rows of terraces, some flats, and shared houses with steep stairs. Flat removals fits upper-floor homes. A whole terrace is a house removal. One bedroom at the end of a tenancy is often student removals or man and van.

The railway is the local landmark, and it is also a complication. Northern says Ravensthorpe station is closed until 2028 for the Transpennine Route Upgrade, with the rebuilt station planned west of the old site. Do not plan a moving-day pickup from that platform. Dewsbury station and local buses are the working public transport. Tell us if your street is used as a cut-through while the works continue.

Kirklees links Diamond Wood infant provision with Ravensthorpe CE Junior, which matters if you are moving with children and not only with boxes. The library hub at the Greenwood Centre is the local one, rather than the Walsh Building in town.

Loading on a terrace

Parked cars are the usual limit. We may carry from a few doors down. Send a photo of the front and say if there is a back alley. Westtown, Dewsbury Moor and Whitley are the neighbours we also cover on this side of town.

Moving in Ravensthorpe: common questions

Can we use Ravensthorpe station on moving day?

No. Northern says the station is closed until 2028 for the Transpennine Route Upgrade. Plan the van by road and check local buses.

Do you move shared houses here?

Yes. Tell us if it is one room or the whole house, and which floor the bedroom is on.

Are the streets tight for a van?

Often. Parked cars and short terraces mean we may stop a little away from the door. A photo of the street helps.
