Leaving town is still a Dewsbury move at this end
A long-distance move starts with the same Dewsbury problems as a local one. The stair in Savile Town, the slope in Earlsheaton, the parking in the town centre and the closed station at Ravensthorpe do not disappear because the van is going further. Long distance removals adds the journey and the unload at the far end. House removals is still the right description of a whole home.
We do not publish a menu of Dewsbury-to-somewhere prices. Leeds, Manchester, London and a small town in another county are all real jobs, and they are quoted from volume, access and distance. A sample fare would be wrong for the next reader.
Both ends, not just the miles
Tell us the Dewsbury neighbourhood you are leaving and the town you are joining. Floor, lift, parking and any building rule matter twice. A long drive that arrives at a flat with no lift booked is a bad end to the day. If you are waiting on a chain at either end, say so. We can talk about storage if you have to be out of Dewsbury before you can get in somewhere else. There is no public warehouse address. The arrangement is explained when you book.
Packing for time on the road
Local hops forgive a loose box. A longer journey does not. Fill boxes so the contents cannot shift, and wrap furniture properly. Packing can do that before we load. Defrost the fridge the day before and travel with it empty and dry. Keep passports, medication, chargers and a change of clothes in the car, not in a box you will not see until the evening.
Label by room at the new house. If you have not seen the new place, use simple names and a sketch. One person should meet the crew at the destination with the keys. Do not assume someone can “pop back” to Dewsbury for a forgotten fob.
Dates and diaries
Long journeys need a realistic window. A fixed completion at 4pm in Dewsbury plus a long drive may not land you the same evening in a way that is fair to the new street. We will say what the timing looks like when we know the distance. Fridays and month ends are busy here as well as nationally. Book when you have a likely week, and keep us updated.
Insurance is provided with your move. Ask us what is covered when you book. Ask specifically about the journey, not only about carrying in Dewsbury.
Admin you do before the van
Kirklees council tax needs closing or transferring. Redirect post. Tell the GP you are leaving, and register at the other end through NHS.uk. Schools are a separate admissions process in the new council. None of that is our job, and all of it is easier before the house is in boxes.

Those are short journeys and should not be planned as if they were the other end of the country. The moving cost calculator helps you list the factors. The written quote is the figure.
